Some 12 million customers of GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain registrar, were unable to access their accounts on Thursday.

Typical login protocols failed, and passwords were rejected. Attempts to change passwords were also unsuccessful.

The company, which says it has 58 million domains under management, told customers who called for help that the login problem was systemwide, and GoDaddy hoped to have the problem fixed in an hour. That was at 7 a.m.
